Tomorrow

Tommorrow our little man will be 5 months old!  I know I say this all the time but I honestly can't believe how fast he's growing up!  He's still very much a helpless, totally dependant baby but at the same time he's starting to feel so old!  He's got quite the personality.  He's usually very sweet, he smiles all time, loves being tickled, looking in mirrors, rolling over, napping with mom and dad, kicking on his changing table, splashing in the bath tub, Wednesdays with Grandma, big puppy kisses from Scout, going on walks in the stroller, and watching tv (don't judge me).  He's not a big fan of his car seat (because of this I fear I'm becoming a hermit, thank goodness it's getting warmer out!), cold bottles, sleeping through the night (especially if it means having to stay in his crib and not in our bed), sitting (he'd rather stand), and of course he can't stand being ignored!! :)  I find myself loving him more and more everyday.  Here's to our prince!

Not a fan of cereal

I decided to buy some cereal the other day so we could start introducing some solid foods to Ryder.  This is a perfect example of how pictures can speak louder than words!

4 month check up

On Tuesday I took Ryder to Dr. Brabec for his 4 month check up!  He was such a good boy!  He loves laying on the table in the office playing with the tissue paper and looking in the mirror.  What more could a guy want?!  When Dr. Brad was looking him ove he kept trying to stick his stethescope in his mouth, it was pretty cute!  He weighs 13lbs 14 oz and was 24 inches long.  He's in the 28th% across the board.  He may be little but atleast he's proportional!!  The Dr. said he looked perfect and that's all we care about!  I thought we could start giving him cereal but he recommended waiting till 6 months since I'm still nursing.  He had to get 2 shots this time and did pretty good.  I was able to feed him before we had to go home which helped a lot.   We took a long nap, soaked in the tub, had some tylenol, and life was good again!! :)  I didn't take any pictures at the office but I'll try to remember to next time we're there!

Catching up

Sorry I've been such a bad blogger lately!  Who would have thought having a baby, going to school, and having a job would have gotten in the way!! :)  Ryder is almost 4 months old!!  I can't believe how big he's getting.  He's already starting to feel like he's growing out of his baby stage! :(  He's recently figured out how fascinating his hands are!  He tries to stick anything he can get his hands on in his mouth...including his fist!  It's pretty funny to watch.  It's amazing how God creates us so perfectly to become functioning human beings.  Ryder is a constant reminder of God's grace in our lives.   Here are a few of my favorite pictures from this month.
Enjoy!  They go from most recent to the beginning of January, notice how much he's changed just in a few weeks!!

Christmas Eve Fun!

This post is for my Grandma and Grandpa Thorson who live in Omaha. Every year on Christmas eve, ever since I was born, we have been going to my grandparents house to celebrate Christmas. My grandma always makes chili, oyster stew, rolls, munchies, and always plenty of yummy desserts! When I was little I remember running downstairs as soon as dinner was over to check out the presents! The mom's would all stay upstairs and do the dishes, this seemed to take hours!! My brothers and cousins were convinced they were going slow just to torcher us!! Looking back, I'm sure it only took them 20 minutes! Once everyone would finally get downstairs we would start passing out the presents. Then once all the presents were passed out we would go from youngest to oldest in opening them. This memory of Christmas Eve has been the same as long as I can remember, and this year wasn't any different. (except for the part about us kids running up stairs trying to hurry the adults along in the clean up). For several years now my Aunt Teresa makes all the kids form a human pyramid. Most of the "kids" are now in their 20's and we still do it!! (see pictures). Anyway, I just wanted my grandparents to know how much I cherish this time. As we are getting older and our lives are getting busier it seems harder and harder to get together with family. I love that no matter how hectic life gets, we will always have Christmas Eve to bring us all together!! Thank you Grandma and Grandpa for always opening your home to us, I know sometimes it gets kind of crazy (especially with the Chinese Gift Exchange and the Blow Game!!). I just hope that you two have as much fun as everyone else does!! OH, and by the way, Ryder LOVES his new outfits!! :)

Ready for Winter

One of the benefits of living somewhere cold is that I get to justify buying all the adorable winter hats for Ryder! There are so many cute ones and they're usually less than $10 which is a bargain in my book!! Here are a few pictures I took today of Ryder doing some modeling! :)
